Welcome to Hi Mom! #10! and welcome back, repeat offenders. It’s time to officially announce our CALL FOR ENTRIES! Cue the trumpets. Our volunteer team is recharged and ready to harvest another bumper crop of short films. So jump off the couch and throw your film(s) our way! And check this out: submitting a film to Hi Mom! has never been easier! Just follow these three easy steps: a) fill out our new on-line entry form b) print out your entry form and then c) mail it with your film to the address below. We’ve got big plans for our 10th Annual festival and we want you to be a part of it! Here are some other details to guide you through: Tentative Festival Dates: July, 2008 in sunny Carrboro/Chapel Hill, NC, USA Entry fee: FREE (yes free!) if received by December 1st, 2007! Or pay a $15 slacker tax to enter by February 1st, 2008 (or possibly later if the bribe is right). Entry etiquette: Please, please, please fill out a separate entry form for each film you submit. Be sure to upload a jpeg from your film AND a jpeg picture or drawing of your mom. We need these images in order to show off your film and your mom in our illustrious film guide. If the electronic stuff is trouble for you, please provide us with something we can scan. Length: Short = 15min or less. In a fest where films average 5-7 minutes, a 15 min. piece seems long and 30 minutes feels brutal. But we’ll watch anything, and if it fits the fest it’s IN. Entry Format: DVD or VHS only. DVD is preferred. (If PAL format, then DVD only). Screening Format: We'll use your entry unless you want to upgrade to DVD or show a film print. Please indicate if a 16mm or 35mm print is available - we'll have a 35mm show if the entries warrant one. If you would like to submit a different, high-quality format, please inquire. Bribes: Yeah, we take ‘em! They make our lives more livable. Thanks for the nik-nacks and paddywhacks last year. (Best bribe - Nunchuck Swingin' Hamster!) Prizes: At Hi Mom! #9 we gave away over $2000 in cash and prizes to filmmakers, including $1000 of film grants. This year? Probably the same, maybe more. Hubba hubba. In addition, a ton of audience members walked away with killer raffle prizes. You see kids, everybody’s a winner at Hi Mom!
